I have a 77 - 115 which I believe has spent most of its life in fresh water. I have used it quite a bit in salt, but always flush it out thoroughly (for 1.5 yrs). Pending some other diagnosis, I may need to remove the heads. Heads do not look like they have never been off as the paint is un-marred. There is no visible corrosion on the engine or powerhead. What is the degree of difficulty in removing these heads and head bolts. I am really worried about removing the bolts as I have heard horror stories. Are there any tips or tricks? Do I just apply heat as a precaution? Is that to the bolt head or the block where the threads are? Looking for advise and or experience. Thx!

Try to remove the bolts.----But if they do not budge use heat on the block.------Aluminum expands at twice the rate of steel...----That is why most bolts will loosen when the threaded hole opens a wee bit.
