Hey guys I just got a deal on a 1977 Evinrude 140, 140783S .(It is missing the head covers and the exhaust housing if anyone has them I am in need). Anyway it is not a electric tilt and trim motor, I also had a 1982 140HP evinrude that is on a tilt and trim midsection.
can I swap out the tilt and trim? ( the whole swivel bracket) they look the like the same swivel housings.

Go to shop.evinrude.com and compare part # 's. They might interchange.

thanks guys, I thought it looked like it should swap, but I have been so confused about the 77-79 differences.. those were some crazy years for interchanging stuff.

The unit itself will interchange. Then you get into the next problem. You need an outer exhaust manifold for the 77. Make sure you get one from an 82 and later, and it will come with the mounting holes for your trim control box. (mounts to the back of the outer exhaust manifold-inside the cowling.)

I will, if the previous owner calls me monday and tells me that he cannot find the missing parts. He is going to search his garage for them then. Thanks a bunch for your help emdsapmgr
