My 35 horse Johnson keeps popping out of gear. Thinking it's the clutch dog. But I have a parts motor same year so I swapped lower units. The same thing does OK At low speeds As soon as I get to about half throttle it'll start skipping again. Suppose I could have 2 lower units that aren't good but what are the chances of that. Just wondering if it could be anything in the motor your thoughts

You might run with a timing light to see if there is an ignition miss.-----But first check adjustment at the shift lever.------Side of the lower cowling.----And verify that both upper and lower shift rods are lined up with notches before screws are put in.

Yeah I check those they're right on where they need to be. Can you give me a link for checking the timing. I'm used to the older motors. Were you adjust everything underneath the flywheel
