I have a 1977 50hp Force sn-1777. Can the thermostat keep water from coming out the pee hole? are there any other obstructions i should check?

I tried to start it in the yard with the dog ears on. no water from pee hole. I filled engine from the top and water came out pee hole. When water ran out it stopped. Thanks

Force didn't exist in 1977. And the 50HP Chrysler engines didn't change when Force built them, until after Nerc got the line in 1994 or so. And they didn't have pee holes. They had exaust telltales (tow exaust ports on the back of the leg that "sputtered" water when operating properly.

Time to pull the LU and change the impeller for starters.

Re: 1977 50hp chrysler/force colling problems

Was told it was a 50 hp 1977 force when i bought it last week. Got this from under the cover. Model # 507F4A US Marine 50 hp. Blew out the pick from the bottom and the water started to flow. Put the boat in the water. Ran fine till I put it in Gear. Get to about 1/3 throttle and it boggs down. Runs Great at Idle. Any Ideas? Also do you know where i can get a manual for a US Marine engine?
