1977 55hp trying to change from side controls to binnacle

howdy fellas, I'm new here but I just bought a new to me 1977 evinrude 55hp. it came with side mount controls, I also bought a big nice center console for my 20ft pontoon, so what I'm trying to do is set it up for binnacle controls, looks like brp has a really nice binnacle but it says that it only works for 96 and later models has any body tried to do this and does anyone have any advice....thanks a ton

bolt you 1977 control to the side of the console. the controls use different cable than the binnacle. if you need new cables you have to use pre 1979 cables.

ok, so originally that was my plan, to mount it on the side of the console, but my console has speakers and a slot (that I'm currently using as my switch panel) for a binnacle, I would like to get the one shown below but It says it only works with 1996 and later so I'm really looking for some advice on how to pull this off, I need to move the controls cuz I want to put the console in the middle of the pontoon instead of on the side.
