I have searched all over the internet trying to find someone with pictures (or an explanation) as to where the tilt motor solenoids are for this engine. Are they inside the tilt motor??

And yes, the motor is tremendously dirty... complete with dirt dobber nests and all. But it runs like a champ!

If the cord from the trim motor is not hooked to anything then the selinoids/relays are mounted in the boat near the transom if the boat or controler is equiped with a switch. If no switch then you are missing several parts for the tilt/trim system. The tilt/trim system is not part of the motor electrical and is a seperate system in itself on most motors. JMO

Thanks Oldman570! I was starting to wonder if they weren't tucked up into the recesses of the transom. The boat is equipped with a switch, and the tilt worked until a few days ago.

I'll go check it out as soon as the snow melts. Snow in Texas. Who would've thought it. :)

Ok. I am not finding the solenoids anywhere! I've traced the wires back from the motor to the switch... nothing. Is it possible there are no solenoids?? If that is the case, wouldn't the switch quickly fry out?

As a side bar... the tilt has been working for three years. It suddenly would not go up, but down. Now it won't go down. It moves about a quarter of an inch, then goes silent. I'm starting to think there are no solenoids... and the tilt motor is going bad.

There is a good chance that your system has no selinoids. On some systems inside the tilt/trim motor there is beaker contacts that are to open when the motor hits a certian amparge draw. If you system is one of that type, the end cap with the breakers can be replaced along with new brushes. I will PM you more info on that.
