I hope someone has advice! Just bought this boat. Don't have any idea of history. Heres what has happened since I got it. Stay with me! Kinda long (sorry)
After sitting for maybe 9 months or a year engine fired right up with full warm up lever and choke. I shut it down and put on the muffs for water and started it back up. Runs great (it seems) with the warm up lever half to full. Kinda sounds like its missing, its a little sputtery. When you push the warm up lever all the way down it dies. It will run all day at half to full on warm up lever. So... I decide to put it on the water...scary moment!
Got it off the trailer and hopped in. Boat WILL not start. Finally I remeber something I read on here and trimmed the motor all the way up (it was all the way down) fired right up. Lowered the motor and it dies except after it warms just a little then it will stay running with about half way on the warm up lever.
Drove the boat around the lake for about 5 hours...It did ok but was very sluggish. When throttled all the way maybe we were going 15 or 20 mph if that. At about half throttle its seems normal but you can give it all shes got and not do much more than that.
What I've done, in order...
-Emptied and removed gas tank flushed w/water and dried in sun.
-Replaced fuel lines that were real bad off, you could plug one end and blow right through the holes in them.
-Changed plugs. Plugs that were in it... Champion LC77JC4...Replaced with same.
-Unscrewed little plug on each side of carb. inside that was a little jet or something. Kinda clogged. Blew out and replaced.
-Pulled plug wires off one at a time. Spark jumps about 3/4" from removed wire to block on each plug.
-Pulled plugs...Plugs are really wet (with gas/oil mix) after running for a long time.
Sorry for the long post, hope someone can help!
