heres info and utube videos of the boat i looked at, lots of spare parts included, needs carpet and some upholstry work but...thinkin real hard bout it, said he would take 1600. classic type boat or no?

Nice running 1977 Cobalt 18ft boat for sale. It has a good Mercruiser 165 engine. It starts and runs great. It comes up on to plane nicely and has a power trim. All the gauges work except the speedometer and trim gauge. All lights work and it shifts into forward and reverse. The hull is in exceptional condition. There are a few blemishes, but for the year it is in good shape. It is sitting on a nice roller trailer and is a breeze to load and unload. The interior is in pretty rough shape. It needs to be replaced. The floor is solid. The boat is stored in my garage, and never sits outside. The following are all new or have been replaced on the boat: New Prop, Lower end Lube, Plugs, Wires, Rotor, Cap, Points, Condenser, New Thermostat, Replaced the Head, Head gasket, Relapped Valves, Replaced intake manifold with repaired one, New gaskets, and New Battery. When I first got the boat I had to do a lot of work to the engine and collected a lot of repair parts for the engine and the outdrive. I have a second outdrive, trim pump, trim cylinders, misc trim pieces for the boat, alternator, starter, carburetor, exhaust elbow, and engine mounts. I have a good block from a Nova and the needed parts to almost build a second mercruiser 165 engine. I am getting rid of the boat because my wife doesn't like to go out on it . I am asking $2000 Obo or trade for a smaller fishing boat. I am including everything in the sale. The parts alone are worth almost $1000 on ebay. Let me know if you have any questions or need better photos. This would make a very good winter project. Check out the youtube videos of the boat running on 9/25/12 and the video of it starting after being run for 30 min on the hose then allowed to set and restart warm.

It's worth a look. The pice is pretty good all included, but you can probably find as good a deal in another boat.

I'd be concerned about that hull - even though he said there's no soft spots. The condition of the interior suggests it was stored outside uncovered. I'd be worried about waterlogged foam and a bad transom - make sure you get it out on the water if at all possible.

The other question is: is that going to be a good boat for you. Just you playin' around with a project 'cuz you like boats. Not too bad. Cheap boat for wife and daughters to go out and sun themselves on ... probably not gonna' work out well  What kinda' water are you boating on - water sports or fishing - yadda, yadda, yadda ...

Part of boat buyin' is does it fit you.

Your post is confusing. At first it looks like you are lookin for advice on whether to buy - later it reads like you have composed an add to sell - which is it? If to sell that is a no-no here.

I personally wouldn't give more for it than the motor/outdrive is worth parted out....maybe $500-750? That interior is trashed and I guarantee that boat has spent a lot of time outside uncovered. In '77 the floor, stringers, and transom were all plywood. How much you want to bet someone laid a new sheet of ply in there on top of the original, rotten one before putting in that nasty I/O green carpet?
