I Picked up this glastron yesterday for 350. The transom is rotted Floor is shot and so are the stringers. I could tell before tearing into it. They had mounted a steel plate over the transom for support. The transom had flex in. The floor felt soft all over. The motro is the original with the boat. its a 77 johnson 140 Hp. he said he had it looked at it wasnt gettting spark and that the prop in water would spin but would harldly push the boat. If anyone has ever split the hull tips would be apreciated. Will be trying to get there by sunday. Going to start removal of everything to prep.

Post up some pics so we can see what you're working on. To pop the cap usually requires removing the rubber bumper strip and then removing hundreds of screws or drilling out hundreds of rivets.

Pulled the tank out today. Going to replace it lots of grit inside it. I finally got to see how bad the transom really was. the transom wood was brittle and it is a shock that it hasnt gave in yet. Little by little Ill keep at it.

Great looking boat. As wood says take off the bump strip and go at it. At least you knew what you were in for. It is very bad. The transom will probably be just as bad, which is a good thing. It should be easy to remove all the wood. Good luck.

its rough but the nice part about doing it like this is I can Rebuild the way i want. Definitely will be re wring the boat. Nothing seemed to be working on it. There were so many wires on each terminal it was crazy. I will be putting in a wake tower and strengthening the upper hull for it. I was in a debate between lounge seats or captains chairs and decided to go with captains chairs and custom bench in the back. Hopefully some one might be able to chime in on how to redo the bow seats to make them look nice and how i can do a bench and make it look nice. Im going to re do the gelcoat with deeper blue.
