1977 Johnson 55HP stalling putting in gear

I have a model 55EL77D engine that began stalling after putting into gear. I have been told to check reeds for replacement. They seem to be unavailable. I read somewhere they may just need adjustment. I look forward to your comments and suggestions.

You start with posting the actual compression values.----I doubt it is an issue with reed valves.
