1977 johnson seahorse waterpump

Hey everyone I changed the complete waterpump housing with a kit that was hard to find first off. It came with everything but it's got a painted base instead of the stainless that came off of it. Should I try and sand/polish the stainless one and install it back or will the painted one last a while? 99% of the use is in a spring fed freshwater lake here in north Florida.

Not knowing what engine you have, they usually offer a standard and chrome kit.
Sounds like you are replacing a chrome kit with a standard one.

Sorry it's a 1977 seahorse 70hp.

Yes, they offered both type kits for your engine.

Will the painted one last long? I know that it depends on use and abuse?
