I'm not to familiar with the older boats. All the electrical has been redone. New powerpack, stater, rebuilt carbs, steering, bilge, battery, wiring to console and fuel lines. Just wanted to get anyone's thoughts on the boat and whether it sounds like a decent deal.

Thanks in advance.

Hey if you like it take it out for a ride looks like a great deal to me but see if they will inspect the trailer for you and have anything needed repaired, like boats trailer repairs can be expensive. just my opinion

It could be a good deal but only if you get it checked out or surveyed by a marine mechanic. We can't tell squat by reading your post.

If the boat and motor are in good shape, then it's a good deal. Have an independant mechanic/surveyor check it out for you. Check the transom and stringer, etc. for any signs of rot.

Re: 1977 MAko 23

The older Mako's were some of the most solid hulls ever built. One thing I would check is the fuel tank. It should have been replaced over the years. It looks like a fair value for $5000 but plan on repowering, unless you have alot of mechanical aptitude and experience with that engine. You did not mention what or where you plan to use the boat. I personally would look for a recent model engine. If you proceed, get the hull surveyed and plan on alot of maintenance with an engine that old. More info. at www.classicmako.com .

HH

Carefully inspect the transon, deck and other areas of the boat for dry rot. Headhunt is right that you should go to the Classic Mako site for information.

Make sure you go to their project boat site and look at each project boat listed there. It will quickly give you a lot of knowledge where the Mako boats have gone wrong in the past with dry rot problems... Classic Mako Project Boats

Offer 3500.00 and work up. Winter is a great time to buy. It worked for me.
Dead Eye
