I'm not to familiar with the older boats. Just wanted to get anyone's thoughts on the boat and whether it sounds like a decent deal. All the electrical has been redone. New powerpack, stater, rebuilt carbs, steering, bilge, battery, wiring to console and fuel lines.

Thanks in advance.

Re: 1977 Mako 23

Sorry about last post pushed wrong button. I am also looking at Makos the older hulls are considered superior from newer hulls, if at all possable get a survay the hull or have someone who knows boats look it over. I think the $ would be well spent. Thats a nice boat.

Re: 1977 Mako 23

Hello my name is ART and I actually baught a boat similar to this one for $3,000.00. It was a 1977 Mako 20ft w/ t-top equipped w/ shotgun rod holders and powered by a 120hp evinrude v4 looper. I had to put about 20hrs into motor before getting it ship shape. It has a heavy hull so it maintains a clean ride. and keeps me dry. your boat should do much better than mine being that its longer and powered by a bigger engine. Well good luck and remember to ride before you by. Drive it as if if was already your own.some things to keepin mine...CARBS..SHIFT SHAFT...POWER HEAD...IMPELLER...ELECTRONICS BOX...GROUNDS...SHIFT CABLES...TURN KEY IGNITION...NO BUBBLING/CRACKS ON BOTTOM.. SEE IF YOU CAN GET A LOCAL BOAT MECHANIC TO RIDE WITH YOU ALSO TO CHECK FOR VIBRATIONS IN THE MOTOR..SAME SPARK PLUGS... AND MAKE SURE TIMING IS CORRECT AND ALL PISTONS ARE FIRING AT THE SAME TIME..COULD SAVE YOU TIME AND MONEY IN THE LONG RUN.
ART~THE NOVICE FISHERMAN

Also check the idle, i did have some problems with my 1994 evinrude. My boat just like that one from color to minor blimishes. ill upload some pics to show you it now. All in all sounds like a good boat and a average deal!!!!!
Art~the novice fisher man.
