Like the title says... What is the small hose on the side of the case for? It runs from a fitting under the flywheel down the side and hits another fitting in the case, underneath the fuel pump. I cannot figure out what it is. Even tried to find it on exploded view drawings and couldnt figure out what it is... Anyone know?

Here is a photo... I was checking that stator wire that's jacked right there when I noticed that hose is torn right at that nipple...

Put some light on it, Chief. If it wasn't for the red flywheel, a viewer can't even tell it's an outboard motor.

Ok thank you very much... That explains why there was wet oil residue all over that side of the engine... I figured that might be the case because I couldn't think of anything else it might be. What puzzles me is there is no oil infectiin on this motor. It gets pre mix fuel...

Most 2 stroke motors an oil recirc line to suck any pooling oil from the bottom of the crankcase and supply the upper bearing. Some have more than one line, my motor has 2. It isn't part of oil injection, which mixes oil with gas - It's a 2 stroke thing.

Yes it takes oil from the bottom to the top of the block.----I say it all the time.----Most folks are puzzled by what happens to oil once the fuel goes through the carburetors !!
