The last time i took the boat out I could not get the motor to run on top end. I could even get the boat to run 5 mph. when I gave it full throttle the motor would bog down and shut off. I rebuild the carbs and I belive it is the fuel pump. I have since odered one. The motor had done this a few times before but went away. I was running off a six gallon tank at the back of the boat and added a 24 gallon tank at the front of the boat when the problem got worse. I have not put the fuel pump on yet and decided to try the six gallon tank when the control panel started making a buzzing sound. Shortly after the motor had a burnt smell coming out to the exhaust. :( I immediately shut the motor off. I had only been running the motor for about 3-5 minutes when the buzzer and smell came. Can any one help me to narrow the problem and point me in the right direction. I hope that I have not burnt any cyclinders??!! I was thinking that with the fuel pump not working I was starving a couple of cyclinders and the motor started over heating (I HOPE) and once I replace the pump It will be alright. Does any one know what the buzzer is and what the smell could be?

hairjr, you may have a whole different problem with over heating. it may be your water pump propeller has worn out or gotten brittle and some fin have broken off. but i am pretty sure tha the buzzing sound is your engine over heat warning. however, on to you original problem, i have the same one. the only difference is that some times if i run a long time it takes off like a rocket like it is suppose to. i am thinking a bad coil on one of the cylinders. let me know if you found a corrction for your problem(s)
