When i am close to full throttle there is a screaming sound coming from engine......Any ideas?? My upper unit was just rebuilt so it cant be the bearing in there, is there a bearing in the intermidiate housing that could be the problem, gimble bearing or tappered bearing.

Any idea would be greatly appriciated,

P.S. when i let of the throttle the noise goes away, must be a bearing somewhere...question is where

Thanks

yeah, try these suggestions:

you can try a run with the alternator belt off

personally, if the upper was just rebuilt, that would be my first suspect (check the lube colour, quantity etc)
ditto for intermediate - there are 2 tapered roller bearings in there. check the lube

ball gears do make a high pitched whine, but not very loud - if the upper rebuild included a new ball gear that is now running against your older intermediate ball gear, that might make higher than normal whine

I changed the upper, lower and intermiediate oils this weekend,

The ball gear on the upper is deifnatly in better shape then the one on the intermiediate,

Maybe thats where my noise is coming from

I quess i will just keep running till something breaks

Thanks

noises are always tough to evaluate on the web, but whining ball gears is certainly something that has been discussed. Mine whine a fair bit. It's almost a whistle pitch though.

keep an eye on the fluids.
