1977 Ouachita Spirit 16'

My Dad has a 16' 1977 Ouachita Spirit bass boat with a 75 Evinrude. I'm wanting to purchase a new winch and i'm not positive of the boat's weight. The winch will be for Christmas, so i'm hesitant to ask him for the info.

Any ideas??

Ayuh,.... Ya mean a Trailer Winch,..??

Yer just draggin' the boat up the wagon, not liftin' it,....

A standard duty winch oughta be just fine,....

boat weight has little to do with matching a winch by its capacity. This is especially true if you drive on and only winch a couple feet. If you are winching the whole way, then the gearing matters.

And power winches are wonderful.

The easiest thing to do is call a boat trailer company and ask what they rig a trailer with for a 16' motorboat.
