And lucky you, new to boating in general. My brother and I decided to purchase this boat from a relative (distant) as a start into our boating experience. The boat is a 1977 Wellcraft 185, with an Evinrude 150 OB engine.
The engine had a full tune up and starts fine.
Question #1 : The engine starts, but when we accelerate the black hand primer pump collapses unto itself and the engine starves for fuel. I thought we might have dirt/clog on the tank, but later (reading on the web) it might seem the fuel tank vent could be closed. I noticed when we filled up the tank that the vent spit out some dirty water/fuel, and later we could feel it "blow"as we filled the tank up. Now, is there some vent valve or something that needs to be opened for operation of the boat?
Question #2 : The seller states we have to charge up the dual batteries 24 to 48 hours before use of the boat. Is there no alt on an Evinrude 150 V6? Or do the batteries have to be charged anyway?
Any links to where to get parts etc very appreciated. The body needs some tender care (seats, some electronics, etc).
