1978/1981 Evinrude 115hp Lower Unit Upper Shaft Bearing Housing

I took off my Upper shaft bearing housing to replace the seals. No problem there. Now the problem I have is which direction does the oil hole face when I reinstall it.. The hole is kinda off set from the center of the side it is on. Do I face it towards the Shift rod compartment or another direction. I have looked at service manuals and this is not covered. Appreciate any help. Tom

Is there a groove all the way around ?----Likely it does not matter then.----But position it with hole close to the hole in the lower unit casing.

Yes there is a groove all the way around. The hole that is off set is actually the hole from the shift rod compartment. Thanks for the help, I will place it towards the shift rod.
