So i went and picked up my boat from the shop because there was a three week waiting list. i Got home and did some more searching to what could be the problem. my motor would run for a while and then it would loose spark and die.i started to analyse my ignition and there was what looked to be a trailer light type plug that the wires coming off the key plugged into. so i took it apart to check for bad connections and it was corroded like crazy and the black/yellow wire was corroded nearly corroded off of the adapter and with a gentle tug it broke off. so i did away with all the plug stuff and wired it straight to the key and the motor seemed to have better spark( jumped almost a one inch gap ). i tried to start it and it fired right up. i ran it on the hose for 30 minutes and checked the spark again and it was still very strong. My question is did i fix he problem? what is that black?yellow wire. Could it cause the motor to loose fire?

Sounds like you fixed the problem! I believe the black/yellow wire is the "kill" wire and is grounded when you turn the key off to stop the motor.

Probably the insulation on the kill wire was worn through and it was grounding out, causing you to intermittently lose spark.
