402 Mercury 2 Cyl outboard motor (SN#5042959)

Hey everyone, I am new to the boat scene and new to restoring boats. I have purchased a 1978 Bomber Bass Boat with a Mercury 402 2 stroke motor on it.

I am re placing the wire harness on the motor side as well as the boat side so every thing is new and fresh. One issue I am having is the previous owners are not using the original "Key Switch" and has decided to use their own color code wiring "Boat Side Harness". I would like to be able to put everything as close as I can electrical to its original "Colors" and operation.

With that said, I need to find the correct wire diagram for that motor for both harnesses so I can correctly wire up the ignition. One thing I have noticed is on the control box there is a spot for the "Push Button Choke" but there is no button and I'm not sure if this year motor even came with that setup for an "Electric Choke" because it does have a manual flip lever choke on the front of the motor right next to the fuel inlet with no actuator arm attached to it.

I really want to know this motor inside and out and learn everything I can about it so I am able to work on it and service it as needed. Thank you in advance to anyone willing to take the time to help me in the right direction.

Well I actually just seen that the starter is no good and that they broke off the starter bracket, is there even a replacement? Looks to be castes into the engine block?
