Hello,

I recently purchased a 1978 Evinrude 70hp engine, I have been able to get the engine running on muffs at home, but noticed when I touch the any of the sparkplug wires while the engine is running I get shocked. Any ideas what causes this? I searched around this site but didn't find anything specific.

Thanks

That's just the way it is. Touch the wires and get a jolt. Touch a leaky wire and get a real whallop.

It's called 'shock treatment'
It's trying to tell you that it's getting time to think about changing those wires.
If it hasn't convince you yet, grab onto another one, you'll learn pretty quickly.
It didn't take me but once. Shockingly, or was that 'Shocking me', I'm a fast learner.
