Hello Again,
I need some help with the wiring on the terminal block on the engine.

When I hook the battery (engine CABLES Black and Red ONLY, NO accessories) up I get a little spark at the post.....ign is key off?

I think that this will drain the battery and possibly eventaully burn something on the engine....I don't think it should spark at the batt when hooking up when the ign is off.

Basically there is 1 Red-White (18 awg) wire that goes from the "+ (feed)" on the starter solinoid to the circuit breaker... then to the "+ Batt" on the terminal block [which the goes to the main harness to the ign switch] AND ALSO 2 other [Red wire] locations on the motor.

Can any one help with a schematic for the engine?

Could you also tell me what points the harness connects to at the ign switch?
[curently I only have have the Red (16 AWG to Batt and the Yellow (16AWG) to start and the ign x2 (18AWG) to run posistion]

Thank you.
Frk

I think it is because your engine has the Motorpla Regulator/Rectifier but the slight spark is normal when first connecting the battery terminals.

From the top on the engine terminal board:Yellow or yellow/black---Start; Purple--unused; White--unused or tach signal; Green---choke; orange--overheat or temp gauge--either/or, not both; red--to battery terminal on ignition switch; blue--run or ignition on switch; black--ground.

Hi Frank,
Thx for the reply.
The little spark is still suspicious but i will disregard it.
The terminal block is clearly labeled (BTW purple is for the generator)

Would you know about the "Red w\White Strip" wire that goes from the + side of the solinoid to the ciruit breaker...is this correct?
Thx

Purple wire is a/c current from stator. If you wanted to use a tach that counted a/c pulses, that would be the one to use. On your engine it is unused. Late Chrysler with 20 pole alternator and Prestolite ignition and Force used this wire for their tach.

The red wire with tracer is the source of power for the engine and ignition switch. It goes from the battery side of the solenoid through a circuit breaker and then up into the terminal board. You will see that on the circuit breaker it is also directly connected to the red wire from the regulator/rectifier. When the engine is running, this wire is also used to re-charge the battery.

Circuit breaker will either be a self resetting tin can or a black plastic can with a push-button to reset.
