1978 85hp Chrysler cylinder wall thickness (tolerence)

Hi all, I have re-bored my motor to 3.375 well over recommended size of 3.352 max. I believe that this block has been previously re-sleeved by previous owner. This excessive oversize still leaves me with a sleeve wall thickness of 3/32 of an inch.

I have photos in a related thread titled, Force con-rod connectivity. I would be grateful if any one can give me the specs on sleeve wall tolerances.

Kind regards;

Glenn.

They don't resleve these old Chryslers.
Check the top of the old pistons for a number stamp.
.010 or .020 0r any numbers mean it's oversized.
Frank might know the bore sizes on the older Chryslers.

Well, I never measured wall thickness BUT: Chrysler did recommend no more than a .030 overbore.

SO: Since .030 is .015 on each "side," If you take a cylinder that has not been overbored and measure its wall thickness, then subtract .015, you will have an approximation of what the tolerance is.

Since aftermarket pistons DO come up to .040 over, you could take the extreme position of subtracting .020 from the thickness of an unbored cylinder wall.

Of course, since you have already overbored by about .060. it is a moot point.
