1978 85hp Javilyn lower unit Question

I drained the oil in my lower unit. A 1978 85hp javilyn. I noticed it was redish black and the oil I replaced it with is a yellowish color I put in 80w-90 high viscosity gl-5 is this right????? And on the fill plug the end of it is magnatized and I noticed a few very small shavings of metal on it is this cause for major concern or is this somewhat normal?Thanks for help..

I would keep an eye on it, if it was alot of shavings then you would definitky tear it apart.I belive that oil you put in is fine.<br />javsam
