in my quest for parts i've come across a 1978 90hp outdrive would it fit my 1973 120 hp mercruiser 1 setup or would it be a different style gonna try to snag the gimbal ring too if it will fit
well... there is no such thing as a 1978 90hp outdrive when you are talking about sterndrives.
there would be a 1978 90hp lower unit from an outboard engine.... but it would not fit the upper of an IO.
Sounds to me like a 90 hp 6 cylinder Mercury outboard.
You really need to look at a boat you want to buy. Most sellers don't have a clue what they have or what to call it or if it's good or bad.
