1978 Chrysler 75hp outboard

I dropped the lower unit today. Thinking the main shaft
to the engine might have broken. When I dropped it, the shaft was intact but a couple parts toppled out from the top spline. So something is broken. Can I access the bottom of motor where the splines slide into engine? Is there a bearing up there also? Looked like a small rubber boot and a round bearing race? Dropped out. I’m hoping taking the mid covers off will allow me access to see what broke? Help!!

" Looked like a small rubber boot and a round bearing race? Dropped out." Ig69hydros, both of those go on the main shaft.The metal cup goes on first followed by the rubber boot. Put a little marine grease on the rubber boot before re-installing back onto the motor.

Grease goes on the splines and the rubber is a boot that keeps the grease in and water out.
