Hello all...how is everyone today? just joined this site in hopes off learning new things and maybe come across some friends on the way...Anyways just accquired a 78 eldocraft bass boat with a Mercury 500 thunderbolt on it and im in the process of completey restoring it. It does look like it could be on hell of a bass boat when done...
My questions are...
1) 75% of the boats gelcoat/clearcoat was bubbling off and I could literaly peel it off with my hands so I preceeded to take a straight razor and start removing all..Once I get down to the Base/metal flake could I do a light sand not to hurt the flake and throw down an clear adhesion promoter and the proceed with my first coat of paint? Im trying to save the metal flake without having to redo it.
2) Would spraying an automotive clearcoat be allright after im done with the multiple coats of paint?
