Thanks in advance for your help.
The motor has a pull start and a electric start with tiller steering. It has a brand new carb on it and the motor has seen very little use. Therefore it has done a lot of sitting. I was told that it was never started after the carb replacement. The previous owner just picked it up from the mechanic and put it in the garage.
I decide to try the pull start first. I get a couple nice pulls and a little rumble of possible start up, then thats it. It switches to a point where I can't even pull the rope. So I am looking around scratching my head, jiggle the shifter to make sure its in neutral. Then I can pull the rope about 1/2 way out and every once and awhile I would get a full pull, but its the arm breaker type. It either snaps back hard or pulls hard then easy. I was getting really frustrated. So I decide to hook up a battery to try the electric start. I notice there is no push button, so I was wondering if the stop button was changed to a start button, no. My first thought with it was that you would need some sort of switch at the battery. That you would throw the switch sending juice to the motor and waa-laa. Then you would switch the battery back off. It is just two leads, (negative, positive) that are connector to the starter solinoid. So here I sit in bewilderment. Does anyone have any suggestions??
