Hello, I recently started up my Johnson 35, and It will not run with choke off, if it does run with choke off the motor will cough and then stall out after 30 seconds, it doesnt respond to any throttle. I recently replaced the fuel pump. Now, is this carb problems and should they be cleaned or rebuilt and if so, is the job difficult? Mind you, i am new to the boating world.

Thanks for all your help,
Brett

Not a difficult job Brett but would be very helpful if you had a service manual.

If you tackle the job, get your rebuild kit before hand so you will know what parts you will replace. When cleaning the carb, blow all passages out with carb cleaner and follow up with compressed air.

And yes....it sounds very much like a carb problem.
