Hey guys, Took my boat to the dock today for her maiden voyage. Everything ran great, except, when i went into reverse to leave the dock, the boat went forward, thinking that reverse just didn't work, we ended up turned around anyways, so i thought i'd just leave the dock in forward. Went to forward and low and behold the boat went backwards. Now I know that the control box limits the rpms in reverse, so taking the boat out with that issue didn't seem like a viable option. Pulled the boat back out of the water and parked it in the driveway. Some info on the motor: it's a 1978 Johnson seahorse 70hp, but when I got it, the lower unit was garbage so I picked up a new one, from a 1979 johnson 70. My thoughts would be that maybe the 79 had a counter rotation for the prop. (prop i'm using came with the boat, off the '78 I now own) Can anyone verify or dismiss this? and if not, any other ideas what would be causing such actions to occur? thanks in advance for any help.
