Hi,

Troubleshooting a hard start issue using the Advance Auto spark gap tester when the clip fell apart! Spring dropped out and disappeared into the housing. So far I can't find it. IS it a potential problem if I can't find it? Going back to the boat later this week with a magnet/fish tool and bright flashlight and fingers crossed..

FWIW, and IMHO, that gap tester is a POS....or at least the clip portion is an accident waiting to happen...Should have quit the first time it came apart but was trying to figure out my no spark issue on one cylinder...

as long as the clip didn't get in a spark plug hole it can't do any damage.

Na it dropped straight down in the dark depths..FAR away from the spark plug hole..

Surprise, pulled the thermostat housing to replace them and lo and behold, there was the missing spring, hiding beneath it!
