1978 Mercury Ouboard 115hp

I have a 1978 115 hp mercury outboard motor and i need a new carburater or just a new jet, does anyone know where i can purchase these items. If i can't get a new carb then i need a new jet to rebuild my old one. Thanks!

Dassault, It is likely you can purchase an new carb jet from Mercury or one of the "old" outboard places, like www.dougrussell.com. Carbs are available (but expensive) as well. If the carb is in good shape, buy the jet. If not contact a junkyard or maybe Clams Canino (a regular poster and inline 6 rebuilder) has an extra carb laying around.

firts off, why do you need these items.... what makes one think his jets are "bad" and not just dirty....

Is Doug Russel still up and running because i tried to call and there was no such number.?????. They do haave the part if they are. Thanks

Dassault, I have never called or ordered anything from Doug Russell, due to finding necessary parts elsewhere. There are aftermarket carb kits by Sierra and others, that contain jets. I presume you need the main jets? I also think Mercury could order what you need. You have a very common style of carb, used on a whole family of motors, for a long time and a variety of jet sizes were used by Merc. for different horsepowers.<br />Ebay will also likely have carbs for sale.

Will the 110hp carb fit on my 115hp engine? I need the idle adjustment seat really, will that fit?
