Add fuel stabilizer to tank and run engine on muffs for about 10 minutes.

Fog engine by spraying preservative into carbs until it stumbles.

Better yet add fuel stabilizer to tank and DRAIN carbs.

Some run at idle with fuel line disconnected but I've heard mixed reviews on this. Fog motor no matter what method you use for stabilizing or draining fuel.

Drain lower unit, refill with new fluid of correct type. Use new crush seals on both upper and lower plugs.

Critter Proof (mice): Plug the thru hub exhaust with a cap. Put mothballs in an open plastic bag under motor cover.

Remove battery and charge occasionally over winter.

I'd drain the fuel tank(s). Today's ethanol-blended fuels have a short shelf life. Ethanol in the fuel attracts moisture. I would be hesitant to use leftover fuel when you go out next year. Mercury issued a service bulletin recommendind draining of the tanks as their first preference. Burn the leftover fuel in your car or snowblower..
