I do not have trim control for my 1979 johnson seahorse V6 140 hp engine.
I am considering having it at a wet slip for the summer.

Will I run into engine problems/damage if I leave the lower unit in the water (fresh lake not salt)
while the boat is at a wet slip without trimming it up?

I had run into problems with this in the past but it was a different model johnson.
Would like to know if anyone knows what problems I may encounter and if this not an option.

Appreciate your response.

Thank You,
Bob

No problems other than algae growth and a build up of zebra mussels if you dont run her very often. :)

I came from Northern WI with all fresh water lakes and never had any probs with leaving the mtrs down in the water all summer. O Yeah, and we didn't need an Oxy/Acy torch to take them apart either after 10 yrs use.

Keep in mind, there are two different zincs. One for salt water and one for fresh water.

We have zebra mussels in our lake. They won't grow in the exhaust passages, due to the heat. They will grow inside the water passages for the water pump. If you have mussels in your body of water, I'd make sure the water intakes are always above water when you are done boating. You don't want any restrictions inside the water pump passages.
