Today I went and checked out this boat for another Iboats member. Hes going to pass on it. I'm just going to post pics right now as I want to go work on mine before it gets late. I'll come back and give some more info...
More Info (In case anyone is interested)
Original owner boat. The guy was probably at least 80 and used it primarily on Lake Michigan (Frankfort) and had it down the Kentucky river a few times as well. He said they have taken it out to Beaver Island and the surrounding Islands (Lake Michigan). He purchased the boat originally with twin 55hp Evinrudes. At 1200 hours they needed to be rebuilt. He worked at a marina as a mechanic so he did them himself. Not long after the rebuilds the blocks both showed a hairline cracks and not long after that he said other motors of the same vintage started coming into the shop with the same issues. Currently the boat only has a single 70hp on it. Not sure if it ever had any other motors on it, but, it seems it was underpowered it entire life. He said they were never in a hurry and it always handled everything Lake Michigan threw at them, they would just take their time. It did not look beat up at all as far as the hull goes except a few dings in the port side. I didn't see a single missing rivet in the bottom and he promised that it didn't ever leak a drop.
Under the vinyl cover on the bow is a remote controlled spotlight. The bow rail was added by him as well as the hard top. It's not a factory Starcraft hardtop but it looked like it could have been. It fit well and even had removable tinted side plexiglass panels (no isinglass).
The deck in the back was replaced once. The floor down in the cuddly was very spongy (mush), but the rest of the cuddy was in surprisingly good shape. The cushions looked decent as well as the headliner and original curtains.
The trailer was a beast. Total overkill. Each roller set behind the first row, were 4 rollers wide PER SIDE. So every line of rollers (crosswise) had 8 rollers. The trailer was pretty solid looking but looked like it had been painted a bunch of times and was not pretty to look at at all. The rollers were in good shape though.
The transom would need to be replaced which would be expected.
Overall it was a complete solid original boat needing a total restoration. It was tired and showed it. It would be a HUGE project bringing it back to it's former glory, but I definitely could see it was and could be a great boat again. It was just overpriced at $2400 (bottom dollar he told me), especially with only a 70 on the back. Robert (GameOnSalmon) would still have to payout a chunk of change to get it to Idaho.
Anyway, there's my rambling. It was fun seeing it though, as the hull from the rubrail down is identical to mine.
