1979 40 hp 402 impeller replacement

Ive got all the nuts off and the lower unit has dropped about 3/4", and then it stops. I have pryed, pushed, pulled and shook it, It will not drop. It seems like there is a rod still connected that I cant get off. I liioed under the cowling and see where it connects, but no bolt or nut to take off. Please help me.

If it has dropped 3/4 inch, then the bolt under the tab has likely been removed. More likely that the driveshaft is stuck in the powerhead. IF you're sure all bolts and nuts have been removed, then maybe move on to wooden wedges. I keep a package of wooden door & window shim wedges handy for just this issue. Slip them in from both sides and start tapping them toward the center...
