I am trying to get the impeller out and so far have removed the lower unit with the prop. I do not see anything like I was told. Is the impeller in the lower unit or is it higher up by the engine itself? Thanks!

The water pump is on top of the lower unit. Do you have a long shaft engine? if so, you must disconnect the lower unit at the lower set of four bolts holding the lower unit to the 5 inch leg extension. I don't remember the pump assembly on the 6 hp but I believe it is different than the 9.9-15. at any rate, look for a housing where the drive shaft goes into the lower unit. It will be held on with 3 or 4 bolts. The impeller is inside it.

You are right! I took the foot off and disconnected the shift rod (if thats what its called). Down in the lower foot there are three bolts going into the cooler where the impeller is. On top there is another bolt that is longer. It goes down in there as well. With all those out I can't move it. I guess I am afraid of breaking it using too much pressure. I will if I don't have to remove the prop. Everything is in reach. All I need to do is pry it out somehow. Thanks.
