My engine runs well for about five minutes os so then quites. I removed the gas cap and then it restarted and ran for about the same amount of time. The little screw thing for the vent was open. Could the hole be too small?

I've aquired a run barrel so I will soon get ready for spring. Anything I am missing before I get out in the middle of Santee?

Thanks

Re: 1979 6hp

I would take the carb off and clean it real good. Maybe put a rebuild kit on it if you can find one. Would not hurt to rebuild the fuel pump as well along with replacing all the fuel line. Here is a link for the fuel system and the parts FUEL SYSTEM

If motor kills with gas cap off venting is not the problem. Most times it is varnished gas or hardened rubber parts in the fuel system that cause the grief.
