Hi,
Does anyone know of an adjustment for a 79 70HP manual tilt? I need to really mess with the lever flicking up and down and playing with it before it finally comes unlocked and lets me pick up the motor. I see all the levers move but then it just remains locked until I get it perfect.
It's all new to me, boat motor and all but, It's pretty embarassing at the ramp when I am sitting there trying to get it perfect when people are watching.

Any help is appreciated
Thanks in advance
Tom

PS anyone know if I can add an aftermarket electric trim to this and approx how much?

Tom,

I have basically the same engine as you but a 1978 vintage. Mine will allow you to tilt the engine up with the the controls in either neutral or forward. If the controls are in reverse, only then is the engine locked in the down position. Once I pick up my engine slightly, then I flip my manual lever to the "tilt" position to lock the engine up... Works every time....

As far as a aftermarket tilt. I have looked into a tilting jackplate for my engine and they run in the $700.00 plus range depending on setback.... So I'll just live with my manual tilt until this one dies and I repower my boat...

Best of luck,

Billy
