I took the screws out of my Power Pilot remote and when opened I find this:

The red arrows points to what appears to be a broken "shift" lockout. (or what one parts supplier labeled as LEVER, **** lockout).
Is this what it's called?? Outboards, and their components are new to me, but I am trying to learn as I go:)
Thanks for the help- Troy

Also, does anything else look Wonky???? Being a beginner working on boats, this remote thing is very new to me. The picture shows how it was when I opened it. I didn't want to move anything until I can study it more. I have the Clymer manual, but not sure if the remote is covered in it, just haven't looked yet.
I do know those exploded views on-line can be a little aggravating to follow.
Thanks in advance. Troy

Did you ever find out what this is called? I have a similar problem with mine-the part isn't broken, though, just cannot figure out where it goes.
