Guys,
Although I've been in and out of boats all my life, this would be the first boat I've owned other than an 8' Hydroplane I had years ago. I'm looking at a Glastron CVX-16 with a 115 Evinrude...both are 1979 vintage.
1. Bluebook says the motor is worth an average $125. Is that really all it's worth in running condition? I'm considering upgrading to a new motor, maybe.
2. What is the reliability/durability factor on a 30 year old motor?
3. Are there things I should be wary of or looking for prior to purchase?
4. Other?

Any help would be so appreciated. Thank you.

If the stringers, deck and transom are original, its probably due unless it was stored in a garage for yrs.

The older outboards just keep ticken, I would steer clear of the electric shift models due to rare parts, otherwise I'd say a running 115 is worth more than $125 if it has decent compression (100psi+) and even or within 10% on all cylinders.

you are not going to get much for the motor. but if in good condition, it is worth maintaining and using. check the prices of newer motors.
