Is there anything that I should be especially concerned about before turning the key on this rebuild? Anything to keep a close eye on which might reflect a problem? A new water pump has been installed along with thermostats that were non-existant prior to the rebuild. I am assuming the water flow through the tell tale will be quite different without the strong free flowing stream that I had before. Would that be safe to say? Anything you fellows right recommend before the initial starting of the powerhead?

Don't forget to run a double oil mix during the breakin....Moniter the temp. real close.... Retorque the head bolts after break-in..You should still have a strong pee stream...

I'm off to the marine shop to pick up a water pressure guage kit and temp guage kit right now. Is it acceptable to do the three initial heat cycles recommended by Wiseco on their pistons with the outboard on the muffs or should this be done on the water? Also, should I wait till after the break in period to begin adding the SeaFoam, or go ahead and add it now?

No reason you can't do it on the muffs. I've heard they recommend 3 cycles, but not sure if it's nessesary. I would not use any additives during break-in. It should not be nessesary to use Seafoam for some time...

Yes, I agree with the Fleet Admiral and run a double oil mix for the initial breakin and after initial run do re-torque of the head bolts Very Important) During the engine run make sure you keep your eyes on the temperture guage and don't panic if you smell oil burning somewhat from engine and new paint burn smell. It will run a little warmer the first time out. Remember not to be stingy on using the extra oil. The new power head needs the extra oil for the extra heat and proper break-in. Remember rings need to seat with all other new parts and all new parts needs to get that extra lube there. Good Luck Mate! Let us know how she runs!
