1979 Evinrude 150 charging?

Would not charge before i changed rectifier. Once changed it shows to be in the green just at 12 volts. Is this normal or should it be charging better. I also checked battery volts not running 12.75 volts once running the volts jump everywhere from 13v to 16v to 18v. can't get solid read. Any help greatly appreciated.

sounds good to me.. make sure all of your connections are good and clean, both on batteries as well as other areas..

all in all..sounds right on
