I'm not the best motorhead around so please help. I just bought a 35 Evinrude and the pullstart does not engage. It doesn't move the flywheel at all. I found out that the lockout lever is broken but I'm prtty sure that this only keeps it form starting when in gear. If you have any ideas please help.

sounds like the dawgs to me. They are spring loaded and are supposed to pop out and catch when you pull the rope. I would start there if I were you. By the way Great motor I've had a 1979 35hp johnson (same motor) for 10 years now, best motor I've ever owned!

Yeah I've been looking at marineengines and I found that #10 pawl pin laying in the bottom of the motor hull, lucky me that little thing is expensive! Would replacing this pin on the pawk be very difficult?

It is all a 2 min job once the starter is removed.
Remove #13 with a small screwdriver.
Assemble #10 (2),#11, #12 as one 'part' and put it on.
Put #13 back and test by pulling the cord.
Note that it works by friction between #12 and #6, so keep oil and grease away!!
Only some grease on the pin holding #11.
