How do you separate the lower unit from the mid section, to get at the impellar?
I currently have a small gap, but not enough to allow a tool in there to loosen the shift shaft.
Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated.
I don't want to pry on the 2 halves for fear of damaging the cases.

Thank you.

There is a pin through the top of the drive shaft, which must come down through a slot.

1. Remove spark plugs

2. Slowly rotate flywheel while pulling down gently on lower unit. When pin aligns, it will drop down. STOP turning and don't turn the flywheel again till it is reassembled.

3. When you get the lower unit off, note the positon of the pin so you can put it back in the same position for reinstallation.

Well....That was a HUGE help! Thank you again.
The only grief I had was finding out the dealer had sold me the incorrect impellar. The impellar in the unit itself is about twice the size of the he looked up. However it didn't look deteriorated at all so I reassembled. One problem upon reinstall was the shifter in the lower unit had moved so when I had it back together, the shift linkage was out of "whack" reverse was neutral...ect...ect... But by 9:30pm I had it all figured out, & cracked a beer by 9:45...& called it a night before my good luck ran out.....LoL
Thank you again F_R
