I'm looking at picking this boat up and was wondering if anyone has any input as to the quality of Galaxy Boats. It has a 140 I/O and is an open bow. I've had quite a few saltwater boats but I'm now land locked and don't know a thing aboput this boat maker.

Thanks

The boat is fine. They made a pretty good product from what I've seen. At that age, if it hasn't been covered and really well cared for, it will have rotten spots in the stringers and floor and maybe the transom. You can look at the project boats section to see what you get in to if these conditions exist. Then you decide if its worth it. I have a 70's model boat too. Rotted pretty bad when I got it. Water will find a way in to these old fiberglass boats if the folks that had them weren't really careful. Look for screws driven in the deck to mount things, or plywood screwed down on top of an old floor. The boat might be fine, but its a heck of a lot of work to fix them when they start going bad.

Where are you? They are probably the Galaxie that was building boats in CA for a number of years. They were a decent low cost manufacturer. They never could decide if they were a mass production manufacturer or what we call a Custom builder. There are many Custum manufacturers here that will build a boat exactly how you want it. Galaxie did some of that along with stock boats. I believe they are gone.

You may have a Galaxie from Galaxie in Texas also. They are a good boat.
