1979 Glastron Sea Fury 216 Cuddy Drain?

I have recently acquired a 1979 Sea Fury 216 and have a question regarding an exterior factory hole on the starboard side in the cuddy area. It is about one inch in diameter and appears to be a drain from the cuddy, but because it is so close to the waterline, I am concerned the boat will take on water in deeper swells. I have seen this hole in the same location on pictures of other Sea Fury 216 boats. Contact with Glastron hasn't provided good information. Their response is that in the older boats some scuppers were provided in the bow area but they were not definite with respect to this boat. I have used a fiber-optic camera kit to look into the hole from the outside and can clearly see the inside of a corrugated plastic pipe going to the cuddy but I cannot find this line inside the cuddy with the seats removed. Can anyone enlighten me on this? Is is possible it is a scupper which will only allow water to drain from inside the boat to outside but not the other way around. For those with V216 Sea Fury's I now know why the prevoius owners had a plug installed in the drain opening on starboard bow above the waterline. The drain from my anchor locker runs to that hole but the flexible piping had been chewed off possibly by squirrels or other rodents; I installed a section of bilge piping from a marine store and now all is well. I can launch the boat without the plug.

Hello I just picked up a v216 sea fury any tips on replaceing transom by chance??? I got it free so it needs a new transom and a new motor but other than that its sound.

I cannot offer you any suggestions on the transom as mine is like new there; is yours spongy with some rot or is it physically damaged. What I can tell you is that the v216 is a very sea worthy boat. I repowered mine with a 2000 Johnson Oceanpro 150 hp and, although I did not use a stop watch, it planes within 5 seconds from idle. Although the floor stringers are very solid a PO cut out the floor with a circular saw presumably to replace the fuel tank. Now I have a creaky floor; so that has to be addressed at some point. The boat provides the right combination of comfort and utility for me and I look forward to many future years of enjoyable boating. Good luck with yours and I would be most interested in seeing some pics.

Yes I will post some pics to this posting in the next few days...working many hours this week but will squeak a few pics in here at some point in the next few days....it is totally rotted out...I can physically pull the outer hull of the boat away from the inner wood...so next week I am pulling the top of the boat off and will adding in a new transom back there and I picked up a 235 evinrude for 300 bucks which needs a new impeller and some top end work. Which should power this nicely I think. Other than the transom its as solid as the day it was made...hull in decent shape but man the guy who had this boat trashed it very bad and did not take care of it at all. So I will fix his mistakes and make this boat much more worthy by the time I am done...Once transom is in new topside and bottom side paint will be put on and a few other trinkets I want to add on before I am done with her.

Mine came with a 79 Evinrude 200 hp which seized after less than 15 hours of use. If your 235 is pre 1985, the parts I have from my 200 evinrude should fit yours.
