inline 6 115 merc 1979 water is coming out around most of the plugs what gasket is that called thanks anthony

That's the water jacket gasket AKA cylinder block cover. If you can, try to seal it as best as you can from the outside. Removing that cover can be *trouble*. And if you break a bolt, you'll likely have to pull the powerhead to repair it.<br /><br />-W

how would you seal it from the outside there are about 3 that are leaking already tried to remove bolts broke the first 2 sprayed them with pb blaster . whould you seal it with a sealant or epoxy thanks anthony NY

Gotfive, Use silicone caulk. It is a bit messy, but the alternative is to break the cover bolts, drill them out, retap and install a new gasket. Also, on my 1977 inline six, most of the broken cover bolts could be drilled through the block and square 1/4 - 20 nuts would fit on the backside of the block.
