I recently got a boat with a 1979 100HP Johnson.
I have a problem when starting the engine and running at low rpm. Actually, when my friend had it last year it run fine. When it runs at close to idle or idle speeds it starts loosing rpm's until it stalls and then it becomes very hard to start again. Actually, the best way is to wait for about 15-30 minutes and try to start.
Besides this, is there anything else I should check in this engine that you know breaks or fails. Any improvements recomeneded?
Thanks in advance-

I would start by checking the fuel pump diaphragms for possible cracking. Any leaks could result in excessive fuel in the crankcase which would load up your engine at slower RPM's and make it harder to start from a flooded state.
